MANUELA DE VEGA looks the each-way value at around 10-1 in Saturday’s Irish Oaks at the Curragh. Ralph Beckett’s filly has not been seen since finishing an unlucky fourth in the Epsom Oaks at the end of May.
The daughter of Lope De Vega started at 16-1 at Epsom following her seasonal reappearance behind Mehdaayih at Chester. She finished four and a half lengths behind John Gosden’s runner that day but reversed the form in the Oaks. She has to turn the Oaks form around with Pink Dogwood and Fleeting, second and third respectively.
Beckett may also run Newbury winner Antonia De Vega, providing the ground is not too quick. Joseph O’Brien’s Iridessa is the market leader after beating Pink Dogwood in the Pretty Polly Stakes. Gosden has supplemented Ribblesdale Stakes winner Star Catcher.
